Holistic Mental Health Healing with Hildegard von Bingen
Join me for a class Monday-Thursday @ 9:00-10:15 EDT during Week 6 of the Chautauqua Institute this summer, August 3-6, 2026! I cannot say enough about how incredible the Chautauqua Institute is for adult education on culture and religion, as well as programs for children and teens.
A remarkable figure in medieval history, Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was a German Benedictine nun, Christian mystic, visionary, healer, preacher, musician, composer, environmentalist, writer, language creator (lingua ignota), and advisor to many. This course explores how Hildegard’s medieval holism examining all of a person’s life for healing can be applied to modern day healing in mental health. Instructor will offer the particular lens of Austrian psychotherapist Alfred Adler’s (1870-1937) holism in Individual Psychology as a useful comparison to Hildegard’s practices.
Register directly through the Chautauqua Institute link.
Hildegard Service at Minnesota Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
You are invited to join us for a Hildegard-inspired Sunday fellowship service with readings from Hildegard of Bingen and Episcopal priest and author, Rev. Danae Ashley, teaching about why Hildegard is a saint for our time. The sap will be rising and viriditas will be abundant!
